Williams, who is currently tenth in the Euroformula Open Championship, said he is looking forward to the opportunity to take part in test, taking place at Valencia over three days in October.

“I am really looking forward to showing how I can perform in the more complex and powerful cars amongst a huge field of the best young drivers in the world at F3 level.”

The 19 year-old Australian has finished in the points for int he past five consecutive Euroformula Open races.

He is backed by Perth businessman Dale Alcock, who said that “Calan is a young man with inspiring drive and determination. The way he soaks up the pressure of one of the toughest sports there is, is extremely impressive,” Alcock said.

“Securing the opportunity to show what he can do during the testing in Valencia is a big step toward making the transition to FIA F3 in 2020, where he will compete in front of the world and under the noses of the F1 teams during F1 events.”

Tasmanian Alex Peroni is currently the sole Australian competing in FIA F3, while both Marcus Armstrong and Liam Lawson represent New Zealand in the thirty-car grid.
